Report from Nicaragua Mission Team

The message below was sent to Minister of Missions John King by John Oakes, one of Temple’s high school students who is with the mission team in Nicaragua this week.

The trip to Nicaragua has gotten off to a great start. Our trip down went well. There were no lost bags or delayed flights. Also, there was no trouble going through security either. Everyone is safe and there have been no injuries to anyone in our crew, which is a great blessing to us.

It is now our third day in Nicaragua, and most of our mission work started this morning. The construction crew, which spent most of the afternoon cutting their materials yesterday, went out to their job site. The sports team went to do basketball lessons today at a school called La Salle. All of the activities went well, and the kids were open to listen to the message that we were presenting to them. There were even a few kids who spoke English, including a girl who is staying in Nicaragua from Virginia. It was a pleasant suprise to those of us on the sports team.

Everyone is working hard and staying focused. We as a group would like for everyone to pray for the safety of our group. We would also like for everyone to pray that we would remain diligent toward the task that is before us and that we may boldly present Christ to the people of Nicaragua. Also, pray that the people we come in contact with will be receptive to what we have to say and be impacted by the gospel message.

  1. Sounds like you guys are up to great work in Nicaragua. Because I’ve done a lot of missionary work in Nicaragua and you’ve got me interested…
What organization/church is your connection to Nica and what part of Nica are you guys in? I used to work for an organization called Amigos For Christ in Chinandega…
