Day 7: Week of Prayer for Louisiana Missions 2012

Giving back in many ways is a goal of His Church in Pineville. In July 2006, Pastor Steve Speer and his family started His Church, a church plant that has grown to a membership of over 400. Thirty percent of the church members are new Christians who have a burden for reaching young adults.

Recognizing the need to reach young adults and young families, His Church is an example of an intentional church plant, situated in an area where young families are moving. His Church has a mission—to make disciples who are intentionally involved in the process to become more like Jesus.

Sponsorship from partnering churches was important as this church was planted. Pastor Steve was bi-vocational and found wise counsel and encouragement from local pastors and Louisiana Baptist Convention Missions and Ministry team personnel. A one-time grant from the Church Site Corporation (through the  Georgia Barnette State Mission Offering  ) helped His Church to purchase property and the original building. Giving back to the Georgia Barnette State Mission Offering each year is part of the discipleship plan at this church. Planting other churches to reach young adults and young families is another part of that intent and plan.

    • for the overall vision of His Church and the next church plant which they hope for in 2013;
    • for disciple makers at His Church;
    • for the ability to assimilate new members; and
    • that God would grant wisdom and health for Pastor Speer.
