Team commissioned for Nicaragua

Senior Pastor Dr. Rick Byargeon leads in prayer as Temple people gather at the front of the auditorium to commission those going to Nicaragua in June.

Two new ministries will begin in Nicaragua next month as Temple Baptist Church, Ruston, La., sends members there on mission June 2, 2012-June 9, 2012. High school students and adults will travel to Diriamba, Nicaragua. Their efforts will be divided as follows:

  • Sports Camps and Backyard Bible Clubs. Most of the high school students will work with these activities to reach children and teenagers.
  • Construction. The adults in the group will build functional houses for families living in dire poverty.

These efforts are an outgrowth of Temple’s medical mission trips to Nicaragua, as participants in those saw the need for additional help in the area and shared that need with the people back home.  While the most visible part of the upcoming trip will be the youth activities and construction, it is important to note that those activities will provide opportunities for sharing God’s love and teaching the people of Nicaragua about Jesus Christ.
