Picnic for International Students set for Dec. 17

Minister of Missions John King forwarded the invitation below for posting here. The picnic will be a good opportunity to reach out to students from other countries and other cultures.

This is a busy season, but I would like to ask you to prayerfully consider coming to the International Student Friendship Picnic on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 12:30 at Dan and Dawn Erickson’s home, 2202 Royal Oaks Dr.

This is a picnic that used to be held at the Wards’ home. We have had far less involvement of Americans at the picnic the last couple of years.

Sometimes it is hard to convey that bringing food to an international picnic or just coming to an international picnic can have “Kingdom Consequences,” but I believe it definitely can be part of God’s plan to bring believers and internationals closer together. Many of our internationals are wounded and isolated in their own way, and certainly far from home. Students who feel the love and concern from our community certainly are more open to lasting friendships.

Sometimes in our haste to convey information about “an event” or “a time,” “a place,” we do not convey what is in our hearts about the significance of a simple time of sharing a meal together during the Christmas season.

May your season be full of God’s Blessings,

Dan and Dawn Erickson
