‘Released’ scheduled for Oct. 30

Once again this Sunday, Temple Baptist Church’s members will be “Released” from their usual Sunday afternoon and evening activities to serve the community. Temple people will gather at 3 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall to receive assignments before dispersing to various sites in and around Ruston.

“Released,” which occurs each fifth Sunday, is an organized approach to being the church in the Ruston community — outside the church walls. Previous “Released” activities have included visiting nursing homes to sing and chat with residents, visiting senior citizens to chat and provide help with yard work and minor repairs, working at Rolling Hills Thrift Shop and helping with activities at charitable agencies such as Life Choices and Christian Community Action.

You don’t need to sign up ahead for this session of “Released”; just show up at 3 p.m. Oct. 30 willing to work. If you have one of the red Temple service T-shirts, be sure to wear it. If you don’t have one, come anyway.
