A new era of missions began for Temple Baptist Church Jan. 30, 2011. The evening worship service was canceled that day so that members might go out into the community and demonstrate Christ’s love for people in a variety of ways.
Titled “Released,” the concept is that members are released from normal church schedules and programs to minister to people. Similar activities are planned for each fifth Sunday.
More than 300 people participated in the initial session of “Released.” Their activities included cleaning and doing minor repairs at people’s homes, visiting nursing homes for singing and fellowship, helping at the Domestic Abuse Resistance Team shelter and working at Rolling Hills Thrift Shop.
Subsequent entries in this blog will provide illustrations and more details of some of the activities.
